Best First-Class Airport Lounges in Asia

Last month we looked at the Best Airline Lounges in the United States. This month we look at some of the best places to spend time in airports in Asia.

It’s no secret that some of the world’s best airlines are based there. Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, and Thai Airways all get very high marks for their first-class service  both in the air and on the ground. It’s also no surprise that these airlines host fantastic airport lounges. Here are three favorites of first-class passengers:

Hong Kong International Airport

The Wing Cathay Pacific

The Wing lounge of Cathay Pacific

You won’t mind a layover in Hong Kong if you have access to Cathay Pacific’s flagship first-class lounge–The Wing. Renovated in early 2013, the lounge is spacious with plenty of comfortable seating and a wait staff that will bring you anything from the bar. The lounge is on the second floor and there’s a terrific view of the tarmac.

The first thing you should do upon arrival at The Wing is head to the shower area. Ask for a cabana that is outfitted with a soaking tub and shower, bathroom, and seating area. It’s the perfect place to recharge after a long-haul flight.

Once you’re freshened up you may want to have a meal or snack catered by the famed Peninsula Hotel. The dining room offers a carving station, hot and cold entrees, salad and fruit, plus a cheese tray and desserts. If you’re not hungry, perhaps you’d like spending a little time at the Champagne Bar, which serves Veuve Clicquot and Moet & Chandon.

Singapore Changi Airport

The Private Room Singapore Airlines

SilverKris lounge restaurant

Nothing says exclusive more than The Private Room from Singapore Airlines. This is the private first-class passenger lounge within the airlines SilverKris Lounge.

This intimate enclave never seems crowded and offers plenty of leather armchairs and plush sofas. It also has two small private rooms that have a table and chair if you need a workspace.

Be sure to enjoy a leisurely meal in the dining room. The a la carte menu serves delicacies like poached lobster with French herbs and capellini with wild mushroom ragout and truffle oil. Asian favorites such as congee are also available and a buffet.

There are excellent bath facilities here for anyone who has time to shower before their next flight.

Bangkoks Suvarnabhumi Airport

Royal First Class Lounge & Spa Thai Airways

Royal Orchid Lounge of Thai Airways

Many travelers will tell you that Thai’s Royal First Class Lounge & Spa at Bangkok Airport is the one of the best lounges in the world. A golf cart whisks first-class passengers to the lounge and also to the gate of your connecting flight when departure time is near.

The lounge with a capacity for 134 guests has a series of private living areas, each dedicated to a single party of travelers. Once you’ve settled into your living room, ask about spa services.

The airline offers first-class passengers an hour-long fullbody massage. Other spa facilities available include a sauna, gym, and yoga room. The lounge also offers meeting rooms, slumber rooms, shower suites, and an a la carte dining room.
