British Airways has plans to offer passengers a first class experience on flights between San Diego and London. This upgrade is thanks to the route’s success and the new four-cabin Boeing 777-300 the airline will be flying. First class service is set to start on March 27, 2016. This route was first introduced in the summer of 2011.
The Boeing 777-300 can seat a total of 297 passengers. Along with 14 seats in first class, there are also 56 in Club World (business class), 44 in World Traveller Plus (premium economy) and 183 in World Traveller (economy). All in all, 24 more travelers can fly the route each day with the larger Boeing 777-300.
British Airways’ First Class Experience
What can travelers expect in the new first class cabin? Plenty of luxury, including seats that convert into beds by twisting a button. In addition to turn-down service, the beds come with a quilted mattress, a crisp white cotton duvet and a pillow. Forgot your PJ’s? No worries—they have a pair for you, along with an amenity kit.
You’ll also get a personal closet to hang your clothing in, and a leather-bound writing desk that converts into a dining table. A la carte dining is available, and there’s a buddy seat so you can dine with a companion. The plane’s lighting is dynamic and designed to reflect the time of day, giving the entire cabin a pleasant mood and atmosphere.
Members of American Airlines AAdvantage, British Airways Executive Club, Iberia Plus and Finnair Plus can earn miles, points or Avios while flying codeshare flights with British Airways or any of these airlines.
Entertainment Upgrade
You can watch 130 movies and up to 650 TV shows while in flight with the on-demand seat-back entertainment system. There is also a large audio selection available, and well-being exercises and therapeutic playlists created by British Airways. So if flying makes you anxious, you can try the Flying with Confidence video, or any entry in the Mindfulness for Travel series, which is designed to make your flight more relaxing through meditation and other tips.
