Do you have a passion for food? Whether you’re on the hunt for the next hot dining trend, hanging out with friends at the local brewpub, or planning a dinner party at home, Capital One just released the perfect card for you, the Premier Dining Rewards card.
With this new card, you’ll earn bonus cash back on all food purchases made at both restaurants and grocery stores. The best part is that this card is free. There’s no annual fee.
Capital One introduced this innovative rewards card because of recent changes in the marketplace. “Meal time is becoming more about the moment and experience,” according to a Capital One spokesperson. “We introduced this card as a way to help those with a passion for food enhance their dining experience by rewarding them for what they enjoy most.”
If food is an important part of your life, then this card was designed for you. And even if you don’t consider yourself a foodie, everyone buys groceries and dines out on occasion. This card is worth your consideration.
Great Rewards
The Premier Dining Rewards card comes with a $100 sign-up bonus for spending just $500 in the first three months. Considering that this is a no-fee card, that’s essentially free money.
You’ll earn lots of cash back on purchases, too. You’ll get 3 percent back at restaurants and 2 percent at grocery stores. You’ll also get 1 percent back for any non-food related purchases.
There aren’t a lot of credit cards that offer bonus rewards for dining out, and even fewer that don’t have an annual fee. That makes the Capital One Premier Dining Rewards card a unique and valuable option if you’re in the market for a new card.
A lot of cards will limit the rewards you can earn, particularly for bonus-earning purchases. That’s not true of the Premier Dining card. There’s no limit on the cash back you can earn and you’ll always get 3 percent back at restaurants and 2 percent at grocery stores, no matter how much you’ve spent.
You don’t have to sign-up to earn those bonus returns either, and the bonus categories will never change. The Premier Dining card makes it easy.
No Annual Fee
Every purchase earns cash back, and every penny you get in rewards is essentially free money. There are no fees and no risks. Just use the card and start earning cash back.
With many rewards cards you’ll typically spend $100 or more a year in annual fees. The American Express Premier Rewards Gold Card, for example, costs $195 a year and only earns 2 points per dollar spent on dining out.
Paying for an annual fee means that you’ll be losing that much of your rewards just to cover the cost of the card. With the Amex card, for example, the first $195 of rewards you earn in a year are essentially returned to the card company as the annual fee. With the Premier Dining Rewards card, every reward you earn is net profit for you.
Better than the Competition
How does this card stack up against the competition? In short, if you want to earn extra cash back for dining and groceries without paying an annual fee, the Dining Rewards card is the way to go.
Like a number of other cash-back cards on the market, Capital One’s Quicksilver Rewards card earns bonus rewards on every purchase. While that sounds great, the bonus you get with a card like this is typically lower than what you’d earn with a card designed for a specific type of consumer.
In other words, you’ll get 1.5 percent back on all purchases with Quicksilver, but that’s only half of what you’d earn at a restaurant with the Premier Dining card. If you take advantage of the Dining card’s bonus earning categories, than you’ll definitely earn more.
Chase’s Freedom card is another popular cash back option that doesn’t have an annual fee. Its biggest draw is its impressive 5-points-per-dollar earning scheme. That sounds great, but you’ll only earn those bonus points for one category of purchases, and that category changes every quarter. So you might be lucky enough to earn quintuple points at restaurants for three months, but the rest of the year you’ll only get one point per dollar.
Moreover, Chase limits the amount of bonus earning to only $1,500 worth of purchases per quarter. To complicate things even more, you have to elect to earn those bonus points by signing up online every time a new category is offered. Quintuple points sounds great in theory, but in reality there are hoops to jump through and limits on what you can earn.
If you want to maximize your cash back on all food purchases and avoid annual fees, the Capital One Premier Dining Rewards card is the best option.
Packed Full of Benefits
Don’t confuse the Premier Dining Rewards card with other stripped-down no-fee cards. It comes with a lot of cardholder perks that are typically associated with expensive rewards cards.
First, you’ll never pay a foreign transaction fee for any purchases. That makes this a great card for travelers. If you’re at a sidewalk café in Paris or on a long layover in Hong Kong, you can earn great rewards for eating out and never worry about being hit with fees.
The card also offers travelers 24-hour travel assistance, auto rental collision damage waiver and travel accident insurance.
You’ll also get access to the full suite of Capital One card benefits. That includes the Capital One Mobile app for managing your account and the Wallet app, which improves security by tracking account activity in real time and allowing you to lock your card remotely if necessary.
Other cardholder perks include fraud coverage, security alerts, extended warranty on card purchases, concierge service, price protection and more.
Foodies Rejoice!
Capital One has the perfect credit card for you. Dine out or cook at home and earn great rewards. It’s a great excuse to hang out with some friends and enjoy a delicious meal. The no-fee Premier Dining Rewards card is nothing but good news if you’re a food lover.
