Credit card partnerships can be a great way to boost your accumulation of cash back or reward points because they typically increase the amount of cash back or rewards points you earn. Capital One Savor Cash Rewards’ new arrangement with Vivid Seats is, perhaps, the ultimate example of those kind of partnerships because cardholders now have the opportunity to earn a whopping 8 % cash back.
What You Need To Know About The Capital One Vivid Seats Partnership
The Capital One Savor card already comes with some unique, mouthwatering benefits for consumers who pursue an active lifestyle of eating and entertainment.
The Capital One Savor card, for instance, offers an unlimited 4% cash back on dining and entertainment, which includes tickets for movies, plays, concerts, sporting events, dance clubs, bowling alleys and various tourist attractions such as aquariums, zoos and theme parks. It also offers 2% cash back at supermarkets for those gourmands who prefer to prepare their own gourmet meals at home instead of buying them at a restaurant.
Now, however, Capital One cash back is increasing dramatically, at least in one corner of the entertainment side. The company has partnered with Vivid Seats, the world’s largest independent marketplace for tickets to live sporting events, concerts and theatrical performances. Through this new partnership, Capital One Savor Cash Rewards cardholders can earn 8% cash back on every purchase through Vivid Seats.
At the moment, the Capital One Vivid Seats partnership is scheduled to run through May 2020, though it seems like one of those promotions that could Capital One and Vivid Seats could extend if consumers really take to it.
Unlike many promotions that require registration to earn the bonus rewards, this one does not. You simply need to use Capital One Savor card when you buy your tickets through Vivid Seats. Capital One will automatically credit your account with the 8% cash back bonus.
How Do I Earn 8 % Cash Back?
Earning 8 % cash back through this promotion is quite simple.
1. Visit the Vivid seats website, whenever you’re looking to buy tickets to a live sporting event, concert or theatrical performance.
2. Search for the tickets you want to buy.
3. Purchase those tickets with you Capital One Savor Card.
4. Your 8% cash back lands in your account automatically.
I Have A Different Capital One Card – Can I Still Earn the 8 % Bonus?
The answer is no.
This offer limited specifically to the Capital One Savor card, so you will have to apply for this card in order to earn the 8 % bonus.
The upshot is that if you apply, you will also earn the current sign-up bonus, and have a card with high cash-back benefits.
In the world of cash back and travel-rewards credit cards, the Capital One Savor card stands out as one of the better credit cards for consumers.
But it is a niche card, for sure, since, as I pointed out earlier, it is so clearly aimed at consumers whose lifestyle spins around dining out/cooking and entertainment. If that’s you, then this is a great card.
Aside from the Capital One cash back rewards I explained above, if you apply for this card and are approved you will also receive a one-time very attractive$300 cash back bonus after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months.
You’ll pay $0 intro for first year; $95 after that.
And if you travel internationally as part of your eating/entertainment lifestyle, you’ll benefit from the fact that the Capital One Savor card charges no foreign transaction fees, which typically gobble up an additional charge of 3% to 5% on every purchase you make overseas – and that can quietly add hundreds of dollars in additional expenses to your travels.
If you want to apply for a Capital One Savor card, you will need “excellent” credit, which Capital One defines this way: Never declared bankruptcy or defaulted on a loan; never more than 60 days late on any credit card, medical bill or loan in the past year; have had a loan or credit card for three years or longer with a credit limit above $5,000.
The Wrap Up
Credit-card company partnerships can be an excellent way to super-charge the cash back and travel rewards you earn when using a credit card. I mean, if you’re going to regularly spend money on certain items anyway as part of your lifestyle, then it only makes sense to get as much benefit from that expense as you can by paying for that item with a credit card that gives you the largest amount of cash back or travel-reward miles and points.
This new partnership Capital One Vivid Seat partnership is a great example of that. Not too many cards offer an 8% cash back reward in any category. But to offer that for sporting events, concerts potentially … well, that’s potentially quite meaningful. Given that tickets to these events are often priced in the triple-digits, you will get back a nice sum of cash through this partnership if you’re regularly buying event tickets.
But we want to know: Is there a category of spending outside of the usual travel, entertainment, food and gas for which you wish credit card companies would offer super-charged bonuses?
