Analyzes the state’s 460 cities and towns based on travel data metrics to determine which are must-see destinations for those journeying through Alabama
New York, N.Y. – RewardExpert – a free service that helps users take full advantage of credit card and travel rewards programs – today announced its “State Spotlight” series; a line of data reports with the mission to delve deep into America’s 50 states and uncover the very best each state has to offer to its visitors using data metrics and indicators. RewardExpert is kicking off this series by analyzing Alabama. The report highlights the top big cities, midsized towns, and off-the-beaten path destinations to visit in Alabama.
“We evaluated all 460 cities and towns in Alabama based on 27 relevant data metrics to provide informed insights with travelers visiting the Heart of Dixie,” says RewardExpert CEO and co-founder Roman Shetyn. “We also determined which cities are best based on certain categories of interest, such as the top cities in Alabama for food, history, and music.”
Key findings from RewardExpert’s “State Spotlight: The Best of Alabama”report are:
- Birmingham, Alabama is the top big city to visit. As the biggest city in Alabama by population, Birmingham offers a wealth of activities to do. According to our data, there are a whopping 38 music venues and performing arts centers in the city. The city is also surrounded by 10 golf courses and 9 wineries. Furthermore, of the 100 dishes the Alabama Tourism Department said were must-eat dishes in Alabama, 18 of them can be found in Birmingham.
- Anniston, Alabama is the best midsized city. Anniston is an hour and a half drive east of Birmingham and on the edge of the Talladega National Forest. There are four golf courses in Anniston, two Civil War historical sites, and three music venues. Mountain bikers can ride the Chehea Mountain Express, a 10 mile trail in Chehea State Park. Those travelers looking for a hike, should check out the Nobbin Creek Trail through Talladega National Forest.
- Orange Beach is the number one off-the-beaten-track destination. Orange Beach is situated directly on the Gulf of Mexico. There are so many outdoor activities to do around the town since the gulf is on one side and the Gulf State Park is on the other. Visitors can see exotic fish and forgotten shipwrecks by snorkeling or scuba diving. Furthermore, Orange Beach has a lively nightlife scene. There are 13 music venues in the town, which means it’s a wonderful destination for an active and fun vacation.
“We learned a lot about Alabama through this State Spotlight,” says Shteyn. “It truly is a destination where travelers of all stripes will find amazing things to do and sites to see. Whether you’re a foodie, a history buff, a music fanatic, an outdoorsman, or simply a beach bum looking for a place to relax; the Heart of Dixie offers it all to its visitors.”
