Qatar Airways will be flying from Los Angeles to its hub in Doha starting January 1, 2016. This new route is part of the expansion that the airline announced earlier this year, which also includes service from Atlanta and Boston to Doha, and more flights out of JFK airport in New York.
Qatar’s move to LAX isn’t a surprise. Etihad and Emirates have been operating flights between Los Angeles and the Middle East for a while. Qatar will be flying Boeing 777s, which feature 42 forward-facing business class seats that allow travelers to lie flat in a 2-2-2 configuration. This will be a welcome luxury on the just over 16-hour flight.
If you’re on the East Coast and you’re looking for a flight to Doha, which is quickly becoming a hot vacation and business destination, you will be able to fly out of Boston on Qatar starting in March 2016, and out of Atlanta in July 2016.
