Anyone who has visited—or lived in—a major metropolitan area knows that finding parking can be a pain. From a lack of options to cryptic restrictions and exorbitant pricing, city drivers suffer both uncertainty and inconvenience every day. Unless they use JustPark, that is. The company is on a mission to make parking effortless for drivers across the UK while also enabling property owners to unlock the revenue within their empty driveways and office car parks.
Solving a Worldwide Problem
Growing up in London, JustPark’s CEO, Anthony Eskinazi, experienced parking problems first-hand throughout his life. After visiting the U.S. and attempting to find parking near a baseball stadium in San Francisco, he realized parking difficulties existed worldwide.
“Parking is one of the most dysfunctional parts of city life and that’s no surprise,” Sam Mellor, JustPark’s PR manager, told RewardExpert. “The way it works has barely changed for decades, and it has been stuck in the dark ages for a long time.”
It occurred to Eskinazi that he could create a technology platform that would enable better use of underutilized parking space in commercial and public car parks as well as hotels, offices and private driveways.
“Anthony figured it could solve both sides of the market,” Mellor continued, “unlocking the revenue potential of all this empty tarmac whilst making parking easy and stress-free for drivers. That’s where the idea for JustPark came from.”
Founded in 2006 as ParkatmyHouse and rebranded as JustPark in 2014, the company now employs more than 50 people. JustPark’s app (available from the AppStore and Google Play) is the highest-rated in the parking sector.
Connecting Drivers with 1.4 Million Parking Options
Mellor said that JustPark’s mobile app has helped over 1.5 million UK drivers enjoy an easier parking experience by connecting them with millions of parking options ranging from car parks and driveways to parking meters and free on-street parking. More than 20,000 parking spaces can be reserved on the JustPark app in advance, and drivers can make payment through the app or on the JustPark website using their credit card, PayPal, Apply Pay or Android Pay.
“JustPark is the parking app on a mission to make parking effortless, easy and hassle-free for every driver on every journey,” Mellor explained. “It helps people save time, avoid stress and make smarter journey decisions. Our five-star rated app and website help drivers find parking in seconds with real-time information on availability, restrictions and price for 1.4 million spaces.”
He added that JustPark is always improving their products to provide a better experience.
“We’re particularly excited about new data-driven features such as our predictive availability system—built using machine learning algorithms—which helps reduce the stress of trying to find parking on-street too, alongside our reservable off-street spaces,” Mellor said. “We are also using GPS data to provide more useful notifications to drivers after they have parked. For example, how long it will take them to walk back to their car.”
Unlocking Revenue for Property Owners
But drivers aren’t the only ones to benefit. JustPark’s industry-leading technology also helps property owners manage their parking assets more effectively while unlocking additional spaces.
Property owners can list their parking space or spaces for free, including their driveway, car park, empty hotel spaces and community spaces at churches, schools and small businesses. The platform makes it easy to control when the space is available, and payments are made directly to the property owner’s bank or PayPal account.
“Alongside making an extra income for over 20,000 homeowners and owners of private parking spaces, we work with the biggest names in property and hospitality,” Mellor said. “We also provide innovative parking solutions for the public sector, including local authorities and hospitals.”
By monetizing empty spaces through marketing to JustPark users, Mellor said the company can increase a property owner’s parking revenue by 20 percent on average.
“We are making considerable progress in the commercial property space,” he added. “We’ve scaled up our business development team and developed new car park technology to offer bespoke solutions for any land or property that has spare parking capacity. This has enabled us to build relationships with some of the biggest names in the industry such as JLL, Legal and General, and BT.”
