Doha-based Qatar Airlines is a member of the oneworld alliance and transfer partner of the Citi ThankYou and Starwood Preferred Guest programs. While the Qatar elite program is not exactly cutting edge, the benefits are decent, and most importantly, being an elite Privilege Club member means you get elite benefits on other oneworld flights.

Qatar Airways is well known for their luxury amenities, and has been called by some a four-star carrier, especially those who have passed through the Al Mourjan Business Lounge lounge in Doha, their hub, which features multiple restaurants and a rather amazing design.

The Airbus A380 is a massive wide-body jet that is the world’s largest passenger airliner. Since we last reported on who was flying it, Asiana Airlines and Qatar Airways have added the A380 to their fleets.

Qatar Airways is reinstating its nonstop flights from Doha to Nagpur, an emerging trade and business hub in India, on December 1. With the expanded service, the airline’s total weekly flights to over a dozen destinations in India will increase from 95 to 102.

Qatar Airways will be flying from Los Angeles to its hub in Doha starting January 1, 2016. This new route is part of the expansion that the airline announced earlier this year, which also includes service from Atlanta and Boston to Doha, and more flights out of JFK airport in New York.

Qatar Airways has been in the news in recent years. You may have heard about them joining the oneworld alliance and completely revamping Qatar Privilege Club, its frequent flyer program. Or more recently you might have heard the name because of the ongoing saga over the delivery of its long-awaited Airbus A380s, the biggest, most comfortable planes in the sky.
