U.S. Bank and Avianca to Break Ties?

icon-comments Comments

It looks like U.S. Bank is no longer taking applications or has at least temporarily suspended taking them for the Avianca LifeMiles Visa credit card, a lucrative credit card. This could mean that the issuer and Avianca are ending their partnership. If so, a new provider has not yet been announced.

U.S. Bank originally partnered with Avianca and TACA Airlines in 2011 to offer a suite of LifeMiles Visa credit cards, as part of their rewards program. The cards they were issuing included LifeMiles Visa Signature, LifeMilesVisa and LifeMilesVisa Secured, all giving cardholders access to Avianca’s frequent flyer program. This is important to frequent flyers because Avianca is part of the Star Alliance, which means you can use their miles to book flights on airlines like United, Lufthansa, Singapore and Air Canada.
