    When you’re looking for a Caribbean vacation, set your sights on St. Thomas. It’s one of the U.S. Virgin Islands just 1,100 miles southeast of Miami so it’s a snap for Americans to visit. Since the U.S. Virgin Islands (St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix) are a U.S. territory, American citizens don’t need a passport if traveling from the mainland or Puerto Rico.

    Why visit St. Thomas? The weather is spectacular all year long but ranges from the low 70s to high 80s in the wintertime. The beaches are pristine, shopping is excellent, and you can take a ferry or a small plane to visit nearby St. John or St. Croix.

    From the mainland, you can fly on American, Delta, Spirit, United or US Airways to Cyril E. King Airport (STT) in the heart of St. Thomas. Which airline offers the best value using frequent flyer miles depends on which aircraft cabin you wish to fly, where you’re flying from, and if you’re traveling during peak or off-peak dates.
